This is me

Christians - By Maya Angelou

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Which direction will my blog go?

It is really interesting while studying other blogs, to see how different, creative, quirky and edgy they all are. I continue to visit other blogs to help me formulate what it is that I want my blog to be. My passion for the last 15 years or so has been to delve into my family genealogy and research who my relatives really were. In my research I have come across scores of old photos, tidbits of information and quite a few bios on my ancestors. I have no idea if anyone will be interested in this, but somebody somewhere will be.

La Siesta (pictured above) is my favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. it is situated just across from the giant Santa Fe Railroad maintenance depot in Topeka. The most memorable dishes are the enchiladas and the quacamole salad, the fresh chips and salsa, sopipias and finally an RC cola to wash it down. It's been years since I've been there, I wonder if its as good.

Banff

Here we find my father and grandfather in Banff. I wish I was there with them. I never had the opportunity to be in the same room with my dad and my grandfather. It's a shame, I would have really have loved to have been with them together. It would be interesting to see if I have any of the traits or mannerisms that they possessed This must have been a spectacular day in the Canadian Rockies.

Off to the reception

I just wanted to share this photo. It's probably my all-time favorite photo that I have taken. In 2004 my sister married Brian at the Lis Ard estate just outside of Skibbereen, Ireland. After the beautiful outdoor wedding, Melissa and Brian are leading the procession to the reception. My daughter, the flower girl, is doing what she does best, being cute and silly with the flower basket on her head.
